Ayurvedic massage is a system of treatment contained within the vast and complicated subject of Ayurveda, a Sanskrit word derived from two roots “vid” (Knowledge or Science) and “ayus” (Life) So Ayurveda is literally the Knowledge or Science of Life.
The Heart of Ayurveda is its many and varied forms of treatment for the mind, body and spirit, spanning the use of yoga, spiritual remedies and astrology to the use of herbs, nutrition and surgery it is holistic in every sense as prevention of illness is considered as important as cure.
Massage has been within the confines of the Ayurvedic medical system for all of its recorded history of some 3,000 years and unlike Western massage the emphasis is not biased towards technique but rather subtle energy work upon specific points in the body called Marma points.
A Marma point (Sanskrit word meaning hidden or secret) is both a junction of two different types of tissue, ligaments and bones, for example. Subsequent treatment times 30 minutes for back, neck and shoulders
One hour for full body.
